A short but fairly honest walk on the banks of the Mangaokewa Stream just north of Te Kuiti. This is on back-country forest tracks with some mud and a shortcut to be avoided. Actually forms part of the Te Araroa Trail – not a favourite section for Linda Pugh or Mrs Hobbit.

This track has had some recent upgrading and maintenance, from the swing bridge onward. The new track runs closer to the river, has easy gradients and is wider than before.
