Leave Taupo 7.30a.m.
Plan now is to drive straight to Te Puia and spend two nights in the Lodge (DOC Hut). 26 Beds so there should be room unless a school group is in residence then we’ll have to think of a plan B!!!
Day 1 Drive to Road end then 2-3 hours walk to the hut with our packs, rest and then with minimal gear walk a further 45 minutes to the Mangatainoka Hot pools
Day 2 Sidle up towards Makino Hut and back
Day 3 Climb Kaweka J up and down and home
The days will be longer so we can fit more in.
