Minginui Old Fort Road Loop & Tree Sanctuary
A couple of very short, generally very easy walks in beautiful forest with a few giants and many birds. The Sanctuary walk of 3.5km takes about 90minutes and has short section of uphill but nothing that really tests the legs or lungs. Old Fort Road recreational area loop walk has very little altitude involved – 81metres of ascent – only covers just over 2.4km and can take one to two hours depending on how fast one walks. Adding part of the mountain bike track gives you an extra 12km of track through beautiful forest mostly. Some parts on old road.
Water taxi to hot pools, walk back to vehicle Water taxi approx $35 Mod/Mod+
Option 1 - Walk up Wairere Stream and back, via Taranaki Falls Loop Option 2 - Continue up Wairere Stream, cross stream and climb up towards Pinnacles and down to Chateau
